About
the Park
On the fields and hills that make up the Chickamauga
and Chattanooga National Military Park, Union and Confederate armies clashed
during the fall of 1863 in some of the fiercest fighting of the Civil War.
The prize was Chattanooga,
a key rail center and gateway to the South. The park was established in the 1890's
to commemorate the events and sacrifices of the battle.
The National Park Service
welcomes runners and friends to tour the park by stopping by the Visitor's Center
for further details.
